A research paper into why Comic Sans casually does a better job at being inclusive and accessibile than many social designers out there. From being open access, essentially universally known, and legible, the only thing in her way is a negative reputation.
There is of course an appropriate time and place for anything, including Comic Sans. I do not argue that the world should be Comic Sans-ed; I do, however, call out some of the elitism surrounding the typeface which is mostly a result of bandwagoning with no real understanding of the more valid reasons for which Comic Sans could be criticised. I, too, found its use blasphemous until I finally saw the light (of not taking design too seriously and understanding that different people have different needs).
